Dr. Ortega was born and raised in Chicago. He grew up in the Austin community of Chicago. His parents came from Zacatecas, Mexico to give him and his brother a chance for a better life. Due to being the first born in the family, Dr. Ortega was the first person in his immediate family to finish high school; he attended Westinghouse his freshman year and finished the rest at J. Sterling Morton East high school in 2008. For undergrad, he went to Northeastern University and graduated with a community health degree in 2013.
Dr. Ortega has always loved working with his hands and helping people. He was debating on becoming a massage therapist at first, but with the help of his primary care physician, she told him to look up Chiropractic medicine instead. She told him it would be less damaging on his hands over the years and on top of that, he would be a doctor too! He listened to her and started looking up schools and ended up going to National University of Health and Sciences. The grind was real, and he became a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2020!
Dr. Ortega never would have thought that he would become a doctor in his life. He has always been the class clown and considered the “bad” kid in elementary school. He did not have a fun childhood growing up, his parents separated when he was 11 or 12. He was forced to grow up quickly by taking care of his brother, learning how to cook, wash clothes and dishes. All those experiences humbled him and made him see this world differently concerning family, friends, strangers, and the homeless. His family and friends mean everything to him, he is always there for them. Just like with his family and friends, Dr. Ortega will be as attentive, respectful, and empathetic towards you, his future patients.
